LABOR DAY - What's that about?

Let's face it, Labor Day has diminished to:  

Back to school
Sale on appliances, cars, furniture
Last day to wear white
The end of summer - Bookend to Memorial Day
A Monday off

Yet even these aspects of Labor Day have lost their meaning. With global warming, white is worn well past Labor Day and it's no longer the end of hot weather.  School starts in early to mid-August so kids back to school is old news.
